A new superintendent has been appointed to 55 Division. Peter Yuen is no stranger to this division and over the years has been posted to five different positions in our community. A strong advocate for community engagement, Superintendent Yuen shared a working document entitled, The Future of Community Partnerships with Toronto Police Service released in January 2014 which calls for increased community involvement with the goal of improving the partnership, role and influence that volunteer groups provide to the Toronto Police Service.

Successful outcomes in identifying, prioritizing and problem-solving community issues are a direct result of a serious commitment to effective consultation and productive partnerships. This ultimately leads to improved safety and an improved quality of life for the community. To further these efforts, Superintendent Yuen has requested that each member of the CPLC participate in a sub-committee along with designated officers. The sub committees are Child and Youth Safety, People with Distinct Needs Including Seniors and Pedestrians, Cyclists and Driver Safety. A member of the BTRA sits on the CPLC and will be participating in the Child and Youth Safety group.
