Beaches Triangle Funfest

By Terra McKenna

The first annual Beach Triangle Funfest took place on Saturday, September 13th in the Corpus Christi Church Parking lot. The event raised funds for the ‘Children’s Make a Wish Foundation’. It was a great success thanks to the many residents who came out to show support for our wonderful neighbourhood. Fun was had by all, including dancing to the Samba Squad, a BBQ, face painting, a visit from Toronto Police showcasing their nostalgic police cruiser, family games, a silent auction and much, much more.

The Funfest was MC’d by “Mad Dog” from Virgin radio (a local Triangle resident), with some additional help from Councillor Sandra Bussin and Marilyn Churley. The event was sponsored in part by DeClute Real Estate and Oriana Gillis Mortgages. We would also like to thank our generous neighbourhood donors including: Balance, Beach Kidz Kutz, Ellaminnow, Fortelli Salon & Spa, Glitter Pie, Herbal Magic, IGA, Laugh Along Entertainment, Licks, Meat on the Beach, Sauvignon, Scrapbooks by Design, Smartalik, Starbucks, Supper Works, T-Shirt Guys, Threads, Three Dog Bakery and Zane Patisserie. Be sure to pop in and support those who supported us.

The event planning started back in March of this year and committee members included myself, along with a great group of neighbours, specifically: Hailey Black, Ingrid Furtado, Layton Stewart, Tanya Vancea, Tikka Smiley and Valerie Cassels. I’d like to personally give a big thank you to these amazing and community focused people; they all worked diligently to make this event a success and, in the end, it showed! We also had many community volunteers that helped on the day and their work was greatly appreciated and very much needed. This event was a perfect example of how remarkable our Triangle neighbourhood can be when we all work together - businesses, residents and visitors combined. Look forward to a repeat again next year!!
