In Memoriam: Walter Chapman

By John Ellis

You might not have known him well but if you have lived in the Triangle for any length of time, you knew of him. Walter Chapman lived in the home on lower Rainsford Road that was bought by his parents more than eighty years ago. You would know Walter's tall, lanky frame and chiselled features. If you took the time to speak to him you would know that in his later years, he was quite deaf. You would have frequently seen him visiting our Queen Street neighbourhood, always travelling on foot or by TTC. Reclusive, Walter lived alone for most of his adult life, struggling to maintain his household. Walter Chapman died of a heart attack in front of a bank on Queen Street in October. May he rest in peace.
