"Love Thy Neighbour" 2011 An Outstanding Success!

On the evening of February 12th, 2011, the Beach Triangle was one of the most romantic destinations in our fair city. More than 150 of our neighbours gathered in the social hall of Corpus Christi, which was elegantly appointed with twinkling white lights and stunning floral displays, to enjoy an evening of wine, cheese and dancing. The Triangle Community Foundation, lead by dazzling co-chairs Jen Neal and Jennifer Hamilton, proudly presented the 2nd annual “Love Thy Neighbour” event, giving our community the opportunity to enjoy a night of music and dance whilst raising funds for a worthwhile charity.

Dedicated committee members Hailey Black, Shari Smith-Doudelet, Ingrid Furtado, Lynsey Matadeen, Jonathon Singh, Tikka Smiley, Layton Stewart and Tanya Tonner solicited fabulous donations from local businesses and gave many of them away with their Balloon Popping Extravaganza – guests could pop any balloon they chose to buy and every popper won a prize! Partygoers were treated to a gorgeous buffet of tantalizing sweet treats and savoury cheese and crackers, and many glasses of wine were poured by our dapper volunteer bartender Ashton Doudelet.

Among the multitude of talented folks we have living in our triangle, we are fortunate to have within our blocks Mad Dog from Virgin Radio – aka Jay Doudelet of Dixon Ave! Thanks to Jay’s charming hosting skills and energizing musical selection, the dance floor was packed with grooving, shimmying revelers into the wee hours of the morning!

Thanks to the generous support of our event sponsor Liz Smith of Re/Max Hallmark Realty Ltd. and the gracious donations of local businesses, we raised over $3100! A portion of our proceeds were given to the Red Door Shelter, an organization that provides safe housing and support for families, refugees and women fleeing violent situations and battling homelessness.

And thank you to all of our attendees, many of whom helped out with ticket sales, baking and set-up – the fun-loving support of our community made the night a truly memorable occasion!

Be sure to reserve your tickets for "Love Thy Neighbour: 2012" early, as this incredible event is getting better and better every year as word about its fabulousness spreads! To get involved with next year’s event, please contact:
